The art of music has been around for thousands of years, inspiring new people every single day. Many find music as a way of relaxing, entertainment and learning new skills. It trains the mind and the body with different new abilities such as coordination and helping your brain process information quicker. In an interview with York Mills’ music teacher Ms. Howe, she described her experience with advancing into music as a profession after high school and has given tips about why someone should go into music.

Math as a Career — Our Future

Many students are told that math is used in everyday circumstances…but where can we see this? Many York Mills students are high achievers, going into tougher programs and universities requiring the grade twelve maths; data management, calculus and vectors, and advanced functions, for even the simplest of programs where you could not imagine yourself using mathematics. But on the other hand, some students want to be working in almost entirely math-related fields such as engineering. The best places to go about whether you love or hate math is to our beloved math teachers, such as Mr. Simpson, the head of the math department, where we asked these common questions for students and parents worried about their mathematical long term relationships

Theatre Career Path

Dramatic arts or theatre might not be a popular post-secondary choice among most high-school students, but it is definitely a program that helps them develop and accumulate life-long skills and personal qualities. While students learn to work collaboratively and creatively, drama and theatre study cultivate their artistic skills, enhance their communication abilities and provide them with so many perspectives to see the world. But the most fascinating moment has to be when the curtain opens, and all the shine of the spotlight falls on the actor.
