York Mills is home to countless star athletes in many different sports from volleyball, to hockey, to swim; and other athletes excel in sports outside of school whether it’s on a local team or individually at a national championship. Although golf isn’t one of the most anticipated or glorified sports within the school, Nick Lin’s name is bound to come up in any conversation about the game, as he is one of York Mills’ finest, most accomplished golfers. Like many athletes, Nick Lin’s passion for golf started out when he was just a young boy, watching his parents play. Like many players, Lin wasn’t sure if golf was the sport for him until a few years later, even with the support of his parents. “They [my parents] encouraged me to play at a young age, but I didn’t enjoy it until a few years later.” Ever since then, Lin has soared through multiple championships such as representing Canada at the Junior World Championships for three years straight, starting from the age of 10.
