Girls Rugby 7’s First Tournament of the Season

Last week on October 10th, the girl’s rugby 7’s team played a day-long tournament, winning the majority of their games. The team consists of players of all grades, who all met up bright and early at Don Mills Collegiate Institute, where the tournament took place. They played a total of four games against Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute, Wexford Collegiate of the Arts, George S. Henry Academy, as well as Don Mills Collegiate Institute. Although they lost to George S. Henry, they made York Mills proud by winning three games.

Poll : If grade 9 students had a choice would they have an extra year in middle school or York Mills?

Hearing talk about adding an extra year to your education may bring a feeling of dread to some students, but has been discussed by many school districts. Although an extra year of school is not mandatory in 2019, the future may hold that possibility. Adding an extra year of education may benefit students, and give them time to mature academically and developmentally. So we conducted a poll to find out whether grade 9 students would prefer to spend an extra year in middle school or York Mills CI. The results revealed that an extra year in middle school is preferred, most likely due to its lower stress, and relaxed academic rigor. Where would you want to spend an extra year of education?
