Astrid takes drop-in ballet classes at the Walter Carsen Center for the National Ballet of Canada. She has danced in the Nutcracker for a few years.

“I got to be a part of Nutcracker with an open-call audition for the battle-scene. That was the only scene students could do. Dancing on stage was very overwhelming. I felt the pressure to match my peers in such a professional environment; it was intimidating. Keeping up with the other dancers was difficult. It was very high-caliber, the dance was complex, the costumes were heavy, but overall the experience was worth it. To be able to see everything behind the scenes of such a big production was an experience I wouldn’t trade for the world.”

Michelle Lin

This is Michelle Lin. She is in grade nine and a student at York Mills. Michelle is Taiwanese and speaks Mandarin and English. She moved to Canada just two years ago. She attended Windfields Middle School to improve her studies in English. Over the past few years, she has developed a passion for the arts, such as dancing, modeling, rapping, and singing.
